Monogrammed Pouches for Summer Fridays
I'm still thinking about last week’s event for Summer Fridays with Matinée Studio at the historic Le 9ème in downtown Montreal.
Media and content creators were invited to experience Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Collection. I customized a vegan leather pouch for each guest, calligraphing monograms in silver foil. Foiling is always an engaging activation and satisfying process to watch, especially with the slow peel at the end to reveal the shiny calligraphy.
To see the foiling in action, check out my Instagram highlights from the event here.

How does the process work?
Think hot foil stamping, but freehand!
First, foil is secured to the bag, using a low tack washi tape. Using a heated stylus, I slowly calligraph the letters, pressing the foil into the leather surface. The piece of foil is then gently peeled back, to reveal the calligraphy, now adhered to the pouch. This customization is permanent and also works beautifully for products like luggage tags, hardcover journals and portfolios.
