Joy Vanides Deneen is a calligrapher and writer. She specializes in custom calligraphy and hand engraving for live brand activations, PR events, weddings and other special occasions.

She is a past president of La Société des calligraphes de Montréal and served as the Communications Chair for Rendez-vous, the 2019 international calligraphy conference. Her calligraphy has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Air Canada enRoute Edition, Elegant Wedding and Mariage Québec, as well as on blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, Ruffled and 100 Layer Cake.

Joy is also a core contributor to UPPERCASE magazine, where she writes about art, design and the creative process. Her writing has also appeared in calligraphy journals such as Calligraph, The Edge and L’Arabesque.

Originally from California, Joy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre from UCLA.  She moved to Montreal in 2013 and lives in the Mile-End with her husband, young son and rescue pup.
